Tips and Tricks for That Spectacular At-Home Spa Day

Tips and Tricks for That Spectacular At-Home Spa Day

What’s better than a little rest and relaxation after a long day of work? Not much else. Watch it strip away every ounce of stress like bark from a tree. You can’t beat that. Every once in a while, though, you need to take at least a half day to yourself. We’ve all been there. I’ve certainly been there. When you’re planning your spa day, you don’t want to have to think about it. You just want to have everything set out before you in a nice, easy manner. While we can’t lay out the spread for you, we can give you some tips for making your day perfect. We’re here to take a walk through some ways to make your homemade spa day ooze tranquility, the sustainable way.
Why not break the internal tension right off the bat by soaking it away? Bath bombs or bath salts in a tub of warm water can fix just about anything. I know from experience. Add a journal to the mix, and you’re covered. It’s a surefire way to relieve both physical and emotional stress. Baths can be great for: soothing sore muscles and joints, supporting heart health, relieving stress, fighting depression, and sleeping well at night. Overall, you’re going to benefit from this practice. On top of that, why not add a candle? There’s also this list of candles, as well.

Cleansing Bar

While you’re soaking, you’re probably going to want something calming to drink. Tea is a great choice. According to an article from BetterHelp, “researchers have found details that suggest that l-theanine [which is found in tea]  helps to stimulate alpha waves in the brain, possibly promoting a sense of calm and relaxation even during stressful situations.” All the more reason to curl up with a cup and let the aches and pains of the day roll away. They suggest looking for one of the following ingredients: rose, lavender, chamomile, and mint.

Sustainable ENJOY A WARM HUG Ceramic Mug

Like a hug in a mug, it’s great for hot or cold beverages.
I don't know about you, but my favorite pair of pajamas really help to enter that rest and relaxation mode. There's something to be said about being cozy, and I recommend slipping into something that makes you feel good after getting out of the tub.
Next comes skincare. There’s something healing about taking care of yourself, especially your skin. It’s what you see and feel everyday, so why not make the best of it? You can find out more about navigating skincare here. And for more self-care products, you can check out this blog. But when it comes to skincare products, there are some you’re going to want to avoid.

J&L Naturals All Natural Skin Serum Duo

An all-natural skin serum made to smooth your skin.

J&L Naturals Ultra Nourishing Face Salve

This face salve will lock in moisture, combat dry spots, and restore balance in your skin.

Vegan Organic Skincare Lavender + Vanilla Body Butter

Aloe Vera Hair + Body Oil

This one's a little more personal, if you’ll indulge me a little. I feel we’ve wrongfully abandoned the joys of painting your own nails, which brings you back to the days when you were young and carefree (and maybe we need a little bit of that now and again). There’s nothing quite like putting on your comfort movie and whipping out your favorite shade of eco-friendly nail polish (yes, they exist) to sit back in a cozy chair and paint away. I was very surprised to find I was not alone in barking up the benefits of nail painting. It’s one of my go-to self-care ideas and maybe someday it will be yours, too.

Sustainable Nail & Cuticle Duo

This duo will help you keep your nails looking clean.
Lastly, self-care on a spa day also includes things like drinking water and making sure you get enough sleep that night. They're not super fun or Instagram-worthy, but they're absolutely necessary to helping your body heal. Plus, pretty much all of these practices are great ways to improve sleep habits. So, it’s a win-win.
